Donika (Don-knee-Kah) Brown is originally from Louisville, Kentucky and has been living in Southern California for the last four years.

 

She was called to fulfill mental wellness and healing work due to always being engaged, intuned, and aware of the way that silence plays on shame, hurt, and overall poor well-being of us humans.

Getting to Know You

Donika completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at the University of Louisville and her Masters of Science in Counseling Psychology: Marriage and Family Therapy at San Diego State University.

​

She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over five years of experience working with diverse demographics struggling with family issues, relationship concerns, depressed moods, anxiety, life-transitions, work and school stressors, severe mental illnesses (Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective, Bipolar, etc.), and probation and legal issues.

 

Donika strives to serve and promote mental wellness for all communities.

Donika is trained in Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.

She utilizes a combination of these modalities depending on her clients' needs and wants, which will be discussed in your initial session.

Your strengths, local knowledge, and culture are all focal points of your sessions. Donika believes that her clients are the experts of their own lives and that these elements will help you to initiate change.

 

With this information, she acts as your personal consultant, using challenging questions to explore and bring awareness to your thoughts and feelings. It is a joint effort that helps her clients create the life that they want to live.
